About Me

Storytelling is my passion. Regardless of the medium, it is my passion to learn about the community and the world, which is why I knew journalism was my calling.

I am a Puerto Rican and Dominican multimedia journalist with a Bachelors of Science in journalism and public relations from Appalachian State University.  I am a proud member and president of Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority, Incorporated.  I am skilled in print, TV, radio, and social media reporting, covering topics from breaking news to in-depth profiles and stories about topics impacting the community. I have an interest in on-air reporting, producing, and writing for digital platforms, as well as connecting with people, and have gained experience in social media management and audience engagement as well.

I have been involved with journalism for four years now. I served as the  editor-in-chief for The Appalachian, App State's student-run newspaper for two years. As editor-in-chief, I managed all operations of the newspaper, edited stories daily for AP Style and clarity, helped build monthly print editions and curated The Appalachian's biweekly newsletter that is sent out to over 15,000 subscribers. I also worked as a producer, reporter, and anchor for Appalachian Weekly News, the broadcast news show on campus. As a producer, I pieced together news shows from the start, pitched story ideas, followed through and worked closely with reporters and anchors, wrote and editedTV news scripts, and developed and managed the show rundowns. Formerly, I was the news editor for The Appalachian and the news director for 90.5 WASU-FM, App State's college radio station, learning and applying skills in news writing for print and broadcast.

I am from from Charlotte, North Carolina, one of the fastest growing cities in the country. in which I have fallen in love with. I have experience working in a top 25 media market (#21), as I interned for WBTV Charlotte in the summer of 2024 as a digital content producer intern. During my time at WBTV, I learned the ins and outs of a fast-paced television newsroom, allowing me to gain a better understanding of broadcast news and technology, how to engage an audience through online and social media presences, and develop my writing skills for breaking news. With this, I produced daily content for the station's website and social media accounts.

I understand the importance of delivering news quickly and thoroughly. Its impact on the community is what pushes me to be a journalist. During undergrad, I coverered topics surrounding the App State and Boone community. I have experience in covering general and breaking news, events, politics, and human interest pieces and profiles from students to members and organizations of the greater Boone community. I am most interested in highlighting underrepresented communities in my work and I wish to pursue that further. I have a love for multimedia, as I've tended to photograph my own stories, did live reporting and created video packages for them using DSLR cameras for both AWN and The Appalachian.

To ensure the community is gaining the information they need, I have expanded my skills and passions toward social media engagement. I have managed and created content for multiple social media accounts such as WBTV, QC Life, The Appalachian, Appalachian Weekly News, the Beta Chi Chapter of Chi Upsilon Sigma National Latin Sorority Incorporated, and App State's Multicultural Greek Council.

I follow the SPJ Code of Ethics and I believe that all journalism should be fair, accurate and benefit the greater community. I avoid conflicts of interest in my work and will avoid covering topics I feel she is not the best suited to write about. My personal ethics statement can be found here.

When not found in a newsroom or covering a story, I can be found photographing her friends, exploring a city because of how much I loves news places, or shopping.
